While a Redevelopment Area covering the new development known as Bayfront has been established, there is a need to amend the existing plan to incorporate sustainability elements and update it to conform to the current vision of the site. BRS is currently working with JCRA and the City of Jersey City on the development of sustainable design guidelines for the Bayfront I Redevelopment Area.
BRS, Inc. worked with EPA’s Office of Community Revitalization using the Regional Resilience Toolkit through the Building Blocks Program in four projects to help multiple jurisdictions come together to identify shared natural disaster risks and a common action plan for the region.
BRS prepared the successful application for one of only 14 Housing and Urban Development (HUD)/Department of Transportation (DOT) combination planning grants awarded in 2010. JCRA was awarded over $2.2 million for planning efforts for the 111-acre Canal Crossing Redevelopment Area.
As a partner with the NJIT TAB program, BRS, Inc. worked with the City of Philadelphia Water Department to develop a tool for assessing the appropriateness of brownfield sites for Green Infrastructure projects.
BRS Inc., is working with the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) community and other stakeholders to develop an area-wide plan and implementation strategy for the Bronx River-Sheridan Expressway Corridor.
