Salem Food Security Study | Estudio de Seguridad Alimentaria de Salem

Project Goal:

To make it easier for people in Salem, NJ, to get healthy, affordable food.

Project Description

The City of Salem received a Food Security Planning Grant from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. This grant will help us study the best way to bring a supermarket, grocery store, farmers market, or another type of food store to 25 New Market Street.

The project has two main goals:

• Find the best way to bring affordable, healthy food to all Salem residents.
• Recommend ways to revitalize the underused property at 25 New Market Street to benefit the community.

This study includes four key steps:

1. Market Analysis – Researching what type of food store would be most successful in Salem.
2. Site Evaluation – Checking the property at 25 New Market Street to find any problems and ways to fix them.
3. Community Engagement – Getting input from residents to help shape the project.
4. Site Development Plan & Recommendations – Creating a plan to make the site ready for investment and identifying any challenges.

La Ciudad de Salem ha recibido una Subvención de Planificación de Seguridad Alimentaria del New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Esta subvención nos ayudará a estudiar la mejor manera de traer un supermercado, tienda de comestibles, mercado de agricultores u otro tipo de tienda de alimentos a 25 New Market Street.

El proyecto tiene dos objetivos principales:
