What is "Adaptive Reuse"?

Adaptive Reuse refers to a practice of repurposing buildings and spaces that no longer meet the requirements of current needs and uses. A small scale example might be to transform a firehouse that doesn’t have the adequate capacity for newer engines and technologies into an office space or a home. This approach values the resources already invested into buildings and works to adjust the way that the building can be used.
