While a Redevelopment Area covering the new development known as Bayfront has been established, there is a need to amend the existing plan to incorporate sustainability elements and update it to conform to the current vision of the site. BRS is currently working with JCRA and the City of Jersey City on the development of sustainable design guidelines for the Bayfront I Redevelopment Area. Jersey City envisions this project as a model of sustainability, and seeks to “future-proof” the development by integrating elements into the infrastructure and regulatory structure of the project that addresses future goals of carbon-neutrality.
BRS’s Services:
- BRS has made sustainability recommendations for the redevelopment plan in the areas of building standards, energy, stormwater management and mobility.
- Developed life cycle cost analysis of recommended sustainability measures to ensure they are feasible and defendable;.
- Supported integration of sustainability vision into the Master Plan for the site
- Work with the Jersey City Municipal Utility Authority to analyze their needs at the site within Bayfront, including an analysis of the use of bio fuels and the required plant footprint.
- Developed recommendations for integrating future infrastructure needs into the Phase 1 construction of the site, including an analysis of the potential for establishing a Central Utility Plant to service Bayfront microgrids and surrounding sites.
